Dicey Tillerman is awesome. I'm very upset that I didn't read this book when I was in elementary school. I think I would have liked it.

I read this back when I was a kid. I decided it was time to read it again. I am glad I did, because Cynthia Voigt is a gifted author.

Dicey Tillerman's mother parks the car in a mall parking lot in Connecticut, tells her other three children to mind Dicey, gets out of the and walks away. Dicey only knows they were headed to Bridgeport to visit an aunt. So, after waiting a day for their mother to return, the children head off to Bridgeport, hoping they will find their mother there.

10/25/2021: I read this again

One of the best books I have ever read. I read this book when I was twelve and I still think about it all of the time. It is a story of hope and survival, of children who work to make a better life for themselves despite their circumstances. It is a great adventure and emotional as well. It gave me a very homey feeling.

"You've got to leave a door open so understanding can get in."

Another book to fill in a hole in a series.

I have been reading and loving this book for 15 years! The first time I was in fourth grade and read it on a long drive to Florida.
