This was a fun little mystery. Figured out parts of it along the way but not the finale. My main issue were the characters made poor choices...very Scary movie type things. Like duh...people are going to die if you keep losing track of them.

Whelp, this is the first of AF's novels I just couldn't do...I don't know if it was the cryptic YA poems or the greedy, family melodrama but this one isn't for me!

Welcome to a new episode of "Emily got this audiobook for a road trip!" Great news: This time, we actually listened to it on the drive!! Unfortunately, that's kind of all the good news I have on this one 😬 Here's the deal. The description and blurbs for this book all immediately mention Christie's "And Then There Were None," which I have read, so I was primed to immediately guess some story beats. And then I guessed the big twist about a quarter of the way through the audiobook. So I spent the rest of the time just waiting to see how the things I predicted would play out. Some other things that frustrated me about this book:
-Slowww early pacing (both my passengers fell asleep lol).
-Lots of volume/tone shifts in the audiobook, which were hard to deal with in the car.
-Overly repetitive writing, even in a genre when it's necessary to remind readers about clues and red herrings.
Of course, I still listened to the whole book. And there were some things I liked — there was a GREAT dog. But overall, I was not super impressed or thrilled by this novel.
