~ 2.5 Werewolves in the Kitchen Stars ~

Werewolves in the Kitchen is a catchy title with a nice cover. It’s short and to the point. Ellie is on a hiatus to re-evaluate her life, is attracted to the two men in the kitchen, and not sure how to handle her attraction.

This was an ok read. I had trouble with the characters, Ellie, Kyle, and Jake. We don’t get much if any character development. Ellie well she annoyed me, because she kept running, literally and metaphorically, from Kyle and Jake. Not once did Ellie try to get to know the men or their past and the same went for Kyle and Jake. The relationship never bloomed from lust to love or anything with substance for me. As for the boys, Kyle and Jake, they are very sexy wolves, different physically and personality wise. The author gives us a little information on why the boys are at the camp get away, but we never learn the full story. Last the sex scenes felt disjointed and didn’t flow well for me. I could not get into how the author was doing the scenes.

I really wanted to like this book and new to me author. Werewolves in the Kitchen was not the book for me. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

This novel had some good stuff and some bad stuff.
I really like the setting of the story. - Idea is fun.
I had problems with how sex scenes were written. - Some of the wording made me cringe.
Characters and their traditions were intriguing - but they were only mentioned and nothing was really explained that well.
Sometimes I had a feeling that flow of the story was too mechanical - this proved to bother me most during sex scenes.

When Ellie was fired for complaining about her boss’s sexual harassment, she grabbed at a job offer at SpiralStone retreat. One day she would finish her degree in physics, but for now she was enjoying the simplistic lifestyle. Well, she was enjoying everything except not having any sex. There were two really hot guys who worked in the kitchen, but hot guys never went for her geeky self, so she drooled over them in her private fantasies. Until the day when fantasy becomes reality. Now they’re in a pickle and Ellie’s trying to think her way through it instead of leading with her heart. Will her heart overcome her brain in time to save them all?

I enjoyed the alternating POVs in this hot short story. Ellie is drooling over Kyle and Jake and Kyle and Jake are drooling over Ellie and none of them really have a clue that they all want the same thing. Well, Jake and Kyle know because they talk about it, but Ellie is clueless about them and they don’t want to scare her away. To make matters even more complicated the guys are werewolves and that’s where the major problem comes in after they hook up with Ellie. I loved Jake and Kyle, but Ellie irritated me with her waffling and over thinking. Yes, she’s a physics major and she’s all Spock Logical and shit, but come on! She completely ignores what her body is telling her not to mention sticking her fingers in her ears and saying la-la-la to her heart. Anyway…this is a hot story with m/f/m ménage action, but only implied m/m/f action. I’d be interested in reading more about the world in this book. Shifters and magic are things I love as well as steamy bits and humor.
