I immensely love Jodi Picoult's work. The amount of research and time to do her writing is incredible. Combined with knowledge that I personally know, I see accuracies and appreciate them. Leaving Time was no different from her other books, and I could say that it is one of my favorites that she has written. I am always in awe and filled with surprises when I don't necessarily see an ending coming out the way that it does. I think that's one of the things that I really love about her books. Just when I think I might have the ending figured, guess again!
I felt a true connection to the characters and I loved how she was able to portray each main character clearly and without any mistakes or real overlaps in personality. I don't know whether it was intentional or not, but seeing the other adults with Jenna (Serenity and Virgil) really showed two figures that were unexpectedly seeming like she did have a father and mother - people who truly liked and cared about her in the end. It was cleverly put together, in many aspects, and I really loved all the information on elephants which was both vital to the story telling, relevant - as usual - and interesting. I find myself unable to take myself away from her books the majority of the time because there's always something that I need to know and get to. I think it's also because after reading "My Sister's Keeper" (which was my introduction to Jodi Picoult), I expect the unexpected. That expectation is what keeps me reading and turning page after page.
"Leaving Time" would definitely be one of the books that I would recommend to friends/people who haven't - or have! - read Jodi Picoult books.

Zapped and baffled!
Every other chapter got me like ' never saw that coming' ...
Devoured her work dirly after looong.

It was ok. Lots of wonderful elephant information. But supernatural, odd twist at the end I should have seen coming. Too long, wishes it were over 3 hours sooner.

Stand-Alone Book
It was an interesting read. I found myself more interested in Elephants and wanting to find out how much was true compared to what was written more then being interested in the characters. The characters and the bit of mystery pulled me in enough to want to know, but the elephant facts were distracting to the plot for me.
