The plot is interesting and the characters are well done, but the writing is not great. At least 1/3 of the book involves trite and wholly unnecessary descriptions of places and people who serve no real purpose in the story. For example there was a full page description and history of the Houston galleria. 1. Pretty much everyone knows what that is; 2. Even for those who don’t, “big mall” is literally all they need to know for the scene. Another 20% is redundant descriptions of how much Nevada is drooling over how “masculine” Rogan is. There was altogether too much telling and not enough showing. The sexual chemistry just felt kind of superimposed because of that.

Still, I enjoyed the story enough that I’ll continue the series. I’ll just keep skimming over all the totally unnecessary descriptions…

The prose doesn't always flow well,  and character descriptions are odd at times. It takes a while for the plot to start moving.
