The important thing is to be prepared for the worst. That's my philosophy in life. Is it a bit pessimistic? Sure. So what's wrong with that? A little healthy pessimism is only good for you. It keeps you from losing touch with reality. In short, it's a form of elevated concentration. I've always said thatt minimising the number of times you get screwed over ought to be an ideal objective to aim for every blessed day.

There's been so many lessons in the recent past. So many people have shouted: "Never again!" And, after a while, we all go back to making the same mistakes, sometimes even worse than before. The problem is that our sense of guilt never seems to last long.

A rather timely short snappy read with a heavy dose of black humour, peppered with slants towards socio-economic observations, set in Italty though. The plot is a bit weak, though the setup does make one think hard, especially in the light of recent events.
