who knew that when the MC knows his in a railroading quest and talks about it it makes it ok? really, this all book is a railroad to make the MC and the bad guy bond. but it somehow works.

I liked that fact the MC lose in fights, he is really out of his league and should not win every single fight.

cool world building and cool boss fights, very well done.

Viridian Gate Online is probably my very favorite series in the litRPG genre so I leapt at the chance to read it ASAP. This installment of VGO begins right in the middle of all the action. I devoured this fast paced novel in just days. The characters are realistic, they have their flaws and their strengths and begin to feel like old friends that you could easily go out to grab a cup of Western Brew and chat with. You even begin to develop some fondness for characters you may have previously despised as the novel delves deeper into their stories. I really enjoyed seeing the characters evolve themselves and in their relationships in this book.

Continuing to delve into the appearance of the troubling malware blades threatening the safety of what was supposed to be a refuge for humans escaping the end of the real world and the corruption spreading across the land we are also made aware that even the gods and goddesses of VGO are not immune to the danger. Jack and his group are forced to work together with former rivals while exploring a new realm and face a powerful evil threatening the safety of his patron goddess Sophia and her realm.

The familiar is mixed with new scenery and storyline to keep things interesting as the team overcomes incredible odds, fighting for their right to survive in the VGO world. The only thing I was sad about was finishing it so quickly! James Hunter has done it again and I cannot wait for the next book!

This is my second time reading through this series because the new book came out and I needed a refresher (my stars are from this read through since I did not rate it on my last read).

This is the opposite of the previous book: this is the type of fantasy book that I eat up so once again a very biased review and rating.

I love exploring a fantastical wonderful fantasy world. The plot is standard; go to these places, collect these things, kill the big bady (nothing really new or innovative) but I LOVE this type of story. Then you throw in a enemy to friends story line and I am hooked.
I want to live in the Realm of Order and just explore and talk to all of the different races and explore the islands hanging in the purple sky.

Once again I am not too worried about any of the characters because there is a track record with these books that no one who can’t respawn in 8 hours will die. There is a fun twist of fates engineered by Sophia with Jack and Osmark and it turns into a very inconvenient thing for them but a fun thing to read about.

This is so far my favorite book in the series (I am yet to read the Darkling Siege) even though it is basically just a book of a side-quest that is more about personal growth and friendship (once again it is something I love) there are things that happen however that were needed for the main series to progress.

Mini-Review:

Excellent narration by Armen Taylor.

There's another book out for the series but it's not on audio yet. I enjoyed listening to the series. The author does a good job of creating characters you can cheer or boo. I find the world building and plot progression to be simple. I wish there was more development. A solid LitRPG but it lacks elements that would push it from good to great.

This series has brought me much enjoyment throughout the five books I have read. They have incited many emotions but this, book 5, is the first time I have had tears from the wonderful, powerful words of this series which I am privileged to have devoured. I cannot recommend it enough and I sincerely hope that you enjoy it as much as I have. Now I can hardly wait for book 6!

Read via Kindle Unlimited.

This gets a little back to its roots as Jack and his party are thrown into an alternate realm where they must use only their own abilities and resources to save the goddess of order. Good stuff. And Osmark is an interesting foil for Jack.
