So, I'm doing a dance-themed story time and most of my books are on the girly side--obviously I need something that isn't all recitals and bunnies. I think the Dino Dance is a good balancer. It's got a nice rhythm, it rhymes, and it's got bones instead of fleshed out dinosaurs, which I think is cool. Probably not a home run, but definitely at least a single.

Jake's Review: This book is awesome. The pictures are cool and the rhyming story is fun and easy to read. I even think the little book hating midget would let mom read this one to him. I still like this one even though I am too old to be reading it.

Jake's Rating: 10/10

Mom's Review: The illustrations in this picture book are so beautiful I would like to have them plastered as artwork all over my house. The backgrounds are visually stunning, the expression on the characters are delightful and the rhyme is simple yet wonderful. This is a favorite of the whole family. This is the perfect book for storytime and one that I recommend all parents, educators and librarians have a copy of. It is truly delightful, fun and sweet. When Jake was young he requested that we read this one too him every night. I had the honor of meeting Bill and Esperanca at the OLA conference a couple of years, and have this copy signed to Jake (Sorry Jesse it was before your time)

Mom's Rating: 10/10

The poetry is choppy and the illustrations are spooky. Even so, I imagine most kids who like dinosaurs will enjoy this.

This is one of my go to books when I am substitute teaching in primary grades. I've never had a group of students who didn't love it.
Told in rhyming, rollicking poetry full of onomatopoeia, it shares the shenanigans of dinosaurs late at night in a special spot near Drumheller Alberta. The typography dances and sings all over the page in unison with Bill Slavin's and Esperanca Melo's raucous artwork! Every student I've introduced this too has loved to shout out the chorus of, BOOMITY-BOOM RATTELY-CLACK THUMPITY-THUMP WACKETY-WACK.
I really need to get my own copy just in case I am ever in a library that doesn't have one.
