I didn’t mean to borrow this book, but didn’t realize it until I was a decent way through. I definitely got caught up in the simplicity of the stories and really wanting to know how they’d end.

We’re they predictable? Yes. Did it help me mindlessly disconnect? Also, yes.

This is 3 books in one - likely will be published as 3 separate BookShots. All 3 are very fast reads - I read the entire book in just a few hours.
The House Next Door - 4 stars -
A man and his son move into the decrepit house next door to Laura and her family. Laura and her husband, Ned, have 3 children and are experiencing the difficulties of day to day life. When Vince reaches out to Laura, she thinks it is a bit strange, but as she gets to know him, her feelings change. Vince is exciting and dangerous. Laura thinks she may need this in her life. The story is told in a flashback, and it is a whirlwind.

The Killer's Wife - 3.5 stars
Andy and Gina are on surveillance of a man they suspect of murdering 4 teenage girls. Suddenly, they get a break in the case, but they still can't solve it. Andy starts taking an interest in Ellen, the "killer's wife". Things progress, and the case becomes murky. Things change late in the story and Andy's career is put on the line.

We.Are.Not.Alone - 3 stars
This story comes with a strong moral message about our planet. It is a science fiction story and while I agree with the message, the entire story is very far fetched, and a bit sappy.

The House Next Door by James Patterson
This is my first James Patterson book! I know, he’s a hallmark to the genre. I just love reading books by young women, what can I say.
1. The House Next Door - Boring.
2. The Killer’s Wife - ehhh.
3. We are not alone - aliens!! The best one in the book.

Overall boring and I feel like I won’t read more by him? But I think I chose a really random book to introduce me to this author.

Out of the three stories, I preferred the second one (The killer’s wife).

Story one: weak willed woman makes continuously poor choices. Has a bizarre romance. Did not like.

Story two: weak willed man makes continuously poor choices. Has a bizarre romance. Did not like.

Story three: X-files crossed with Twilight Zone sci-fi. I liked this one.
