- Love the translation. My first Argentinian literature and I picked a good one.
- Bizarre story plot. Can’t even expect what will happen next. Reminded me a bit of Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by RL Stevenson, and Life Ceremony by Sayaka Murata. Basically they’re within the categories of my favourite genres.
- I went in blind so the brutality and questions of morality really got me good. I truly enjoyed my time.
- Dual timeline 100 years apart, so it did throw me off at the time skip to the point I thought it was another short story.
- Main character in the first timeline was having a main character syndrome, so red flags. None of the characters are likable here. However, I don’t think it was written for us to like them. They were just portrayal of how ambitious human can be.
- Would love for the book to be longer.
- Witty, edgy, and got me hooked immediately.

liked the premise. not a fan of the way this was split into 2 parts/timelines.

A strange and trippy book that did not do a lot for me.

The hell. Anyway. The first half was soooo good. The second half was a bit harder to get through, but when it was finally loosely tied together, it was alllllmmooooossst fulfilling, but not quite.

A tragic case of exciting writing turning into an utterly repulsive and disappointment. Larraquy as an author clearly enjoyed the first part much more than the second, and so did I as a reader.
