I can't tell if I didn't like this because I'm stupid or because something is wrong with the book. (Note: after further reflection, I believe I have some reading comprehension deficiencies that prevent me from looking at the whole picture and instead getting caught up on little details. I think this likely had an effect on my reading experience as well, but I am keeping the rating the same except “light 2” is now “solid 2.”)
I'm not a fan of reading a book where the only reason I keep reading is that the author supposedly has something "big" to say. Great books are thought-provoking, sure, and I am no stranger to difficult, heady texts, but this one... this one just doesn't do it for me. Outside of wanting to exercise my ivory tower philosophizing abilities, I couldn't find a reason to keep turning pages.
Surya has interesting things to say, but the presentation makes for a lackluster experience. It's gonna be a solid 2/5 stars for me, chief.
