As a historical "fan" of Poland and its history, this book almost made a hater of Poland. I get that we should view fictional works from the time they are written, but even in 19th century you cannot make a guy like Kmita look good. How many atrocities did he commit throughout the book, I fucking lost the count. And in the end he got the girl, lived happily ever after. Fuck that bullshit.
Zagloba, Volodyovski and Skshetutski (who I don't know why but relegated to being a mere side character, ugh) were no angels but they cannot hold candle to Kmita's neverending butchery. Dude is praised to high heavens because "he murdered heretic peasants" in Prussia of all places.
I gave the two stars just because it introduced one of the most convoluted conflicts in European history rather accurately. But other than that the book doesn't hold any literary, moral or historical value.

Zniknęła mi moja opinia i nie chce mi się jej pisać jeszcze raz. Ale Potop to polska Gra o Tron tylko że bez smoków, a szkoda.
