A lovely conversation from a chef about how important food is to their life and their family and their being. How our relationships involve food, how recipes come to be and how food revolves around everything.

A delightful volume. I could imagine the places, meals, and experiences so vividly described by the author. Wonderful

A short and sweet collection of wholesome mini-stories that showcase the authors life and relationship with food. I thought that the writing was pretty good (I especially enjoyed the intro), but I also didn't relate much with the whole food thing. I often say, "Food is food is food," which I take to mean that I'll eat pretty much anything and I'll take what's on hand and easy to prepare. This book was super short, making it so there wasn't much to take away, but I could also see this book being a perfect pick-me-up for struggling culinary artists. Overall, not bad, but I didn't really take much away from it and will probably forget that I read it within the month.

I loved reading this! If you are a fan of Gaby's, or just a fan of food, you should absolutely read this. It does read much more like a magazine article or series of blog posts than I was expecting though. As much as I enjoyed what was written it didn't seem to fit the format of a book. Even as a short book like this, it still felt out of place in the book format.

Gaby's accent as she reads this book is absolutely adorable! And it feels so right to hear the recipe names in her voice with her accent, especially when so many of those food memories are so personal. There is much less activism in this book than I have come to expect, it is not bad, just different from what I anticipated.

If you are a fan of Gaby's, read this.

I enjoyed it. A bit scattered or disjointed at times.
