It's simply inspirational. It reminds us not to be afraid to face our true selves and uniqueness despite what the general public (who usually just go with the norm and the popular) say. This will eventually take us to our true happiness that can be shared with those people we connect the most. :)

So, my 6th and 7th grade kids read this book and loved it, and it was on the couch, so I read it. In a single sitting. Without moving from the couch for 90 minutes.

This book is as wonderful as it was when I first read it ten years ago. A treasure. A gift.

Really fun novel about the power of being yourself, turning the other cheek, and unapologetically ignoring negativity and then how most of us fail at this miserably because of our own conceit, and even try to drag others into our own shameful world of insecurity. Be true to yourself. Own your passions and your loves. Never let the sentiments of people who care less than you drive you or your intentions.

This book was amazing! I love the theme of nonconformity in this book and it was a page-turner for me. Stargirl is a character I hope to be like. It made me sad when Stargirl tried to change herself to make others happy, but it made me realize about my own experiences where I have tried to change myself countless times to make others like me. I used to be homeschooled like Stargirl was, but I finally got the chance to go to a real school. In my school years, kids would tease me about my height and my weight, and it would make me upset. I would come home and beg my mother to take me out of the school system and homeschool me again. Now that I'm grown and found myself, I found who I am and who I'm proud and happy to be, I don't care about the stares I get for my funky clothes or the comments I get about how weird my hobbies are. I love myself now and I love the hobbies I do that make me who I am. I don't care if people don't like me because of my style, my skin color, my interests, or my religion. I am proud and happy to be who I am.

A favorite from when i was in elementary school. I spent the afternoon re-reading it. A beautiful ode to those who've been criticized for their nonconformity & indiviuality. And a sweet reminder of how those whose paths we cross stay with us.
