This was so much fun in a very teenager B-movie spooky-horror way. I liked it a lot. 8/10

This book was a little mundane to start with, but then it got really exciting, and I couldn't put it down. It is about two girls and two boys who get trapped in a house at night, and a sinister magician starts playing cruel terrifying tricks on them. It's really creepy, and keeps you on your toes. I loved it!!!!

My first book from this author. Good mystery, decent - albeit obvious - character development. The magician angle was interesting. A little dated; kids today will read it and think, "Why didn't they just use their cell phones?" Beyond that detraction, the suspense kept me turning pages.

Read this when I was young (sigh). I remember it scaring the crap out of me, and it was the first time a book had ever done that! I am tempted to read it again...now that I'm grown and supposedly braver.

I first read this book when I was in middle school, and I was obsessed with it. I can say adult me doesn’t feel nearly as strongly about it. I feel like it was a rerun of a Scooby Doo episode.
