The Go-Giver presents an approach to sales that is based on connecting with people at a human level and delivering exceptional value to others in what you do. The main idea is that you should focus on connecting with others and gaining an understanding of who they are and their needs. From there, you can develop a product or service that provides value catered to those needs. If you lead with genuine human connection (rather than a sales pitch), you are in a better position to listen fully and understand your connection and if and when the time is right, deliver the best possible value. By focusing on value and exceptional customer experience, the authors share many examples of how business can be generated through referral. The idea is that the majority of your business prospects will not come from direct connections, but from second or third-degree connections who have been referred to you by satisfied first-degree customers and connections. I found this message so refreshing and it has given me greater confidence to seek out authentic connections with others, without worrying so much about selling my services. Yes, of course, I am motivated to earn contracts and provide value, but I have faith in my approach of connecting first and trusting that if I deliver a great experience, more work will come. This book offered a refreshingly human perspective on networking, connecting, and helping one another - how to be a good human rather than how to be a good salesperson.

Great book on sales, with a fresh perspective. Focus on providing VALUE to other people, be genuinely interested in others, build networks with a goal to have fun and make friends, be real, and stay open.

Reminiscent of Dale Carnegie's principles, so if you like his teachings, you will enjoy this.

Easy read and full of great reminders. It's not earth shattering science, it's a posture.

If you are in sales or not, employee or state at home parent, The Go-Giver is a book for everyone to read and live the examples presented by Bob Burg & John David Mann. It teaches all of us that truly giving to others will ultimately lead to benefits for all. My initial read of that book sold me right then and there. I then purchased numerous copies for my co-workers for christmas and I've since read the story a couple more times along with the audiobook.

This book though is the companion to The Go-Giver, Go-Givers Sell More is more for those in sales or fields where the notion of giving your all will benefit you versus the traditional approaches. The authors explain by using real case examples where individuals displayed a Go-Giver attitude and truly benefit themselves and everyone around them.

If you are in the position where you have a "McGuffin" to sell or are working your way up the ladder of employment then start first with The Go-Giver, but immediately afterwards add to it with this companion to help show you that Go-Givers truly do sell more and are much happier doing so as well.

I really enjoyed this book and its perspective. I whole heartedly age with the concepts and I liked the examples used to demonstrate the points.

As someone who hates being “sold” to, it helped me to see why certain transactions are working and why some just don’t.
