If significance is formed by many seemingly insignificant details, Rebecca Solnit relies on invoking concepts with a lot of significance to tell the story for her. Lacked introspection, but had one or two good essays in it.

My new favorite essayist. Read for eloquently worded opines about how the choices we make everyday (in both thought and action) can lead to seismic change.

Solnit is a balm for my world-weary soul. I read her Letter to the March 15, 2019 Climate Strikers on September 27, 2019, a climate strike Friday, which is a lot about Greta Thunberg.
"Today you are what's happening. Today, your power will be felt. Today, your action matters. Today, in your individual action, you may stand with a few people or with hundreds, but you stand with billions around the world. Today, you are standing up for people not yet born, and those ghostly billions are with you too. Today, you are the force of possibility that runs through the present like a river through the desert."

I think this might be my new favorite Solnit collection. She covers a wide variety of topics and poetically weaves together issues of race, sex, and class in the United States. She’s definitely gotten more blunt over the years, but that’s what I love about Solnit.

Solnit isn’t wrong, but much of this felt like it had been said before- maybe even by Solnit.
