A little boy goes into a music store with 88 different instruments and is told by his parents that he can only choose one. How on earth will he choose from so many? He'll just have to try each one.

...and based on the one he chooses might explain my affection for this book. :)

I also loved the rhythm and the word play of the text. Would be a fun read aloud.

Choices and patience. Big topics to discuss. This picture book is a fun one to use to talk about these big ideas.

Nice book about finding your perfect instrument. More musically inclined parents/kids will probably get more out of it than I did.

A boy goes through a music store in an attempt to decide which instrument he wants to learn (although he really wants to learn ALL of them!). Will he pick the squeakiest? The squonkiest? Or other onomatopoeic nonsensical words to describe the sounds of the instruments he puts his mouth on? (As a band geek that part kinda grossed me out.)
Overall, it was cute and nice that his parents were letting him have a choice and look through things on his own. I still think he should have gone with his second test instrument (bagpipes), but his final choice (piano) was probably one of the best for him to start out for learning music theory and developing dexterity without having to worry about inflating bags, reed maintenance or emptying spit valves. :)

The summary of the book is slightly more descriptive than the actual book.
