Read as a requirement for my Modernism class.

This is not my favourite Woolf I have read. The characters didn't feel as fleshed out as they are in her other works. The chapters where it is just the plays weren't as interesting as the actual characters. This novel (or novella, maybe) just fell flat compared to her other writings. Can't say this was super enjoyable.

okay I gave this a good shot, 80 pages in and it's a dnf... I so badly wanted to enjoy this as my first Woolf novel but I found it beyond difficult to keep track of the characters, and the plot, or lack there of, to be... well.... dull.

And if we’re left asking questions, isn’t it a failure as a play? I must say I like to feel sure if i go to the theatre, that i’ve grasped the meaning… or was that, perhaps, what she meant?
