I am not sure that I agree that Dr Thorndyke does better in short stories, for the same reason I have trouble with Holmes short stories - so many clues get skipped in the background that the reader has absolutely no chance of figuring out the crime. Worth reading, yes, but just be prepared for some frustration.

One of the better story collections. Thorndyke was central in all seven of them and Jervis narrated. None of the mysteries were too shocking (though that may come from reading all the books back to back) and it was a fairly quick read through, but still enjoyable.
