It's not that I haven't read this before, but there's something about being able to revisit such a wonderful classic. I grew up with the anime and didn't really dive into the manga until my early 20s. Reading this again now that I'm in my 30s brought such strange feelings of piece and comfort. There isn't much that I can say about this story that isn't already known, but reading the eternal edition allowed me to see the art more clearer and every single detail in the foreground and background. I'm looking forward to continuing my re-read this year in these editions.
I was gifted this edition, and if you know anything about me, you know that I've read all of the Sailor Moon manga from way back in my elementary/middle school years. I was completely obsessed, and I stayed that way to the point that I was creating lectures in college on Sailor Moon and Feminism.
So, this review is not for the Sailor Moon series as we all already know how I feel about it, and the story has been out since the 90's so if you don't know already, I'm sure you can find out.
But let's talk about this glorious Eternal Edition - 200 pages of super high quality paper (unlike my childhood manga, which was so thin you could see the pictures of the next page through it), with beautiful watercolor chapter cover pages. The pages are also much larger than they used to be, so we can appreciate all of the wonderful details.
My favorite bit about the Eternal edition is by far, the translation. Sailor Moon has been translated many, many times, which has created some of the fan's favorite phrases ("Meatball head", anyone?) but not only did the translator make very thoughtful decisions, there is a full segment in the back of the book where the translator explains why they made certain localization choices. They also include cultural information about Japan (especially in the 90's) that American readers may not know. It even keeps in mind that the readers are probably kids in the 2020s - which means there are segments that explain what CD's and videocassettes are, which makes me feel very, very old. It's a very thoughtful touch that even I as a lifetime fan learned something from. If you are a Sailor Moon fan and want a definitive edition, I highly suggest the Eternal volumes.

The nostalgia factor is high for me. The book itself is beautiful!
