Cute illustrations but pretty light on story. There are much better feminist picture books out there.

For any fans of NASCAR.  This is Dan Santat penning the art and it's wonderful.  Vivid colors and total princess colors with rainbow exhaust for the princess.  This is a thrilling adventure for kids.  Classic puns in this one.  Princess is racing against all the characters from fairy tales like Big Bad Wolf and the 3 pigs.  There are some clever puns in here.  I can't resist a good pun.

I think the nephew would have loved this story three years ago or so.  I can hear him laughing at the illustrations.  This is a fun lighthearted, entertaining story.  Plenty of girl power in this one as well.

You can always count on Dan Santat.

Loved the tie in of so many fairy tale characters. I think this one for sure would be at the likes of little boys and girls. Santat's illustrations are just captivating!

Cute, but I feel like this would have been more fun if it had a little bit more story and a little less fairy tale name dropping. I wanted to know more about Princess' skills!

August 2018 - an instant favorite for Ben! He loves matching up the cars on the endpapers with the characters in the story, plus the drama of the race, and he's already memorizing phrases like "blew the doors off the Big Bad Wolf." It's making me realize that he doesn't know/remember all the nursery rhyme characters, so we might need to dip back into Mother Goose, but he knows a lot of the fairy tale characters.
