This was a very cute Christmas story, although there was a bit too much focus on the (very precocious) child rather than the couple for my liking. The character development and background of the heroes was very well-done; they felt like realistic and fully fleshed-out characters. I really liked how weird Wes was and how Adam was openly sensitive and emotional.

I think I would have liked this more if it wasn’t supposed to be a Christmas romance. Because tbh it wasn’t very Christmasy. Change the lights into something else and this could have taken place literally any other time of year. It was cute though, even if the MCs moved inexplicably fast into commitment, especially with a child in the picture. Speaking of the child, kids in romance books are tricky to get right, and I think this author wrote Gus very well. I had a good time reading it overall

I love Garnet Run and made myself wait to read this holiday Garnet Run visit! I adored both Adam and Wes - and Gus stealing the show all along the way. I loved the references to online friendships and how valuable and meaningful they can be IRL - it really hit home as romancestagram has been a huge safe space for me for the past two years. There is also a ton of science fact and weirdly helped me beat the PR in Jeopardy!

I was so worried the whole time that there was going to be a third party come in to the picture - but **spoiler** didn’t happen and it was a relief. You can definitely read this as a standalone but there are references to previous Garnet Run books with Charlie/ Rye and Simon/ Jack and River who is the sibling of Adam. I had so much fun with all of it and can’t wait to visit this little town again!
