"There are so many moments when we may feel judged or slighted or put upon or gossiped about, that it would be easy to lash out, to complain about all the ways in which we've been wronged, to point a finger at someone, to write a nasty anonymous comment to make ourselves feel better, but I'd rather be kind."

Maybe a memoir from an internet goofball like Ezarik may not seem feminist, but how about this? She’s been in a mostly male field of tech geeks for a decade and is regularly degraded for being a hot girl who can’t possibly like playing video games and should just get back in the kitchen. Of course, her stories are still goofy. But she doesn’t overlook the misogyny she endures regularly.

Part of my not-so-accidental month of feminist reading at Book Riot.

Being a Pittsburgh native myself, I've been following/watching iJustine since 2009. It's so interesting and awesome to hear all the behind the scenes stuff - even the not-so-fun stuff - of your favorite Internet people. Justine is very honest in her book, sharing the positive side of Internet fame (companies paying to fly you out to the West coast!) and the crappy side (not being able to afford a hotel once in California and getting Swatted).

This is a must read for anyone who watches YouTubers or is interested in general Internet culture at all.

A nice glimpse of Justine’s life. I’ve watched some of her videos on & off since 2011 so it was cool to see how she’s evolved from somebody from a rural town to an Internet personality. Her book is full of wisdom and I appreciate that she is the bigger person when she could easily put the blame on others and victimize herself. Her story is motivating and shows that with enough hard work, anything is possible.

I had no real expectations when I picked up this book.

I got it as I have followed iJustine on various networks on and off for years. So to read this, seemed like a logical step.
I was not let down with the book, it was fun, and quirky, much like her. It did seem to drag on in parts, but I did figure that would happen at times.

I am glad I got it, and glad I read it.

And on to the next book.... ;)

If you love Justine like I do, listen to this on audiobook. It was 100% worth the wait.
