It seems Boscov and Brown designed this to be a Coffee Table slash Writing Book, which I find to be a wonderful mash-up as a genre. I didn't use it as they intended, where they would have had me go through a section each week, and be inspired each Sunday by the picture and the microprose sections that accompanied it. I read the book much faster than this, but honestly I did so because I loved the concept and I didn't want to wait a week to read the sections.

The way I used this book may have been a bit odd, and may not have been as intended. I keep something called a Write Short Journal, and in it I put things -- pictures, clippings, prompts, what-have-you -- that I know will lead later to a piece of flash or micro fiction or nonfiction, or a piece about flash or micro fiction or nonfiction. While I was reading Hand In Hand, I often found myself mining the section topics and their tiny micro-portions for my Write Short Journal.

In brief, Hand In Hand is one inspiring work of art. So if you're like me and you like to stand on something from which to dangle yourself in creating your art, why not dangle yourself from something tiny and (extra)ordinary, like the subjects of these images and tiny blocks of prose?

All my best to you all as we all adjust to the reemerging world!
