Savor Me Slowly was much better than the first two books. It felt more like Gena’s current writing, which I love.

Mishka Le’Ace is not human, she’s some kind of a robot. She was created. Poor thing had a really hard life, she has a chip in her head and if the person who commands her wants to, he can kill her or make her suffer. Mishka is forced to obey to everything her… boss/creator wants her to do.

Jaxon, we met him in book #1, and I liked him in it but I loved him in this one. He’s an agent for the Alien Investigation and Removal. He works with Mia, Dallas etc. At the beginning of the book, he’s been captured by aliens who want to know what he knows about the Schön (a new dangerous race of aliens). Anyway, brave and loyal as Jaxon is, he doesn’t say anything to them. For a week he’s held prisoner and he’s being tortured but one day Mishka comes and save him. She was sent to retrieve him by her boss and get the information for him. So basically, he went from prisoner to prisoner.

Mishka is not so bad, at first I was like : “WTF bitch, let him go” but then, you understand why she’s like that and why she’s obligated to obey her boss in everything. But she’s different with Jaxon, you know, all her life she never did anything just for her. Every time she slept with someone, or kissed someone or killed someone, it was for her boss and not because she wanted to. She feels violated and dirty. But with Jaxon, she feels something real. She wants him, not her boss, her. She’s attracted to him and it’s a first.

Jaxon is the best. He understands her so well, and he doesn’t judge her. She tells him everything and he continues to care for her. Obviously, at first, all of it is confusing for him but he’s catching up pretty quickly. Jaxon is very loyal, his team hate Mishka for different reasons but even though he cares for them, he always stays by Mishka’s side.

They had such a beautiful relationship. She’s ready to give up her life for him, which is a first. She loves him deeply. And it’s the same for Jaxon. It was chaotic but they made it!

The plot was good as well, lots of twists. I just wish the ending wasn’t so abrupt you know, like, I’d have liked to know what really happened to Estap. I was also really mad at Mia and Dallas. They pissed me off, I get it, they were worried about Jaxon because they love him but hey! They plotted behind his back and they judged Mishka without really knowing everything. I was so happy when they realized their mistakes and how awful they had been.

WOW! Poor Mishka, I'm so glad Jaxon came into her life, and showed her that love is real. Mia acted like a real bitch, and I really didn't like her much in this book, although I loved her in the first book. Eden was funny, even if she didn't speak very much.

I am wondering what will happen with Dallas later, though, he's very troubled.

Savor Me Slowly
4 Stars

Engineered and programmed to be a heartless killer, Mishka Le’Ace has accepted the cold and lonely existence forced upon her by her creators and has reconciled herself to never loving or being loved. That is until she is sent to rescue AIR agent Jaxon Tremain and he gets under her skin. Tortured by the memories of his past, Jaxon has vowed never to get too close to a woman, but something about Mishka touches him deeply and ignites a passion between them that can and will overcome all obstacles …

Series Note: Although this is book #3 in the Alien Huntress series, the plot diverges significantly from the storylines of the first two installments. Moreover, the narration changes from 1st to 3rd person.

Mishka is a very intriguing mix of innocence and experience. Given her horrific childhood and the life that she has been forced to live, it is very easy to identify with her and root for her HEA. Jaxon’s past and his devotion to Mishka also make him particularly appealing. Nevertheless, he is too similar to the majority of heroes in this genre and as such does not really evoke any strong emotion.

As this is one of Showalter’s older series, the romance is masterfully written and the sex scenes are suitably steamy.

In terms of the the plot, there are two interwoven threads. The first involves an alien race called the Schon who are spreading a deadly virus amongst humans and the second revolves around Mishka’s diabolical controller. While the first is well developed and interesting with numerous twists and turns, the second, unfortunately, falls flat and the resolution is terribly anti-climactic.

The secondary characters are well written although Mia and Eden’s interactions with Mishka reveal some new and not so likable traits about the two women. That said, there behavior is true to character so it all makes sense in the end.

In sum, Savor Me Slowly is a solid addition to the series and I am eager to find out what happens next with the Schon.

First Thought when Finished: Savor Me Slowly was freaking fantastic! I am glad I am getting to this series finally :)

Overall Thoughts: This has to be my favorite in the series to date. Mishka (love that name) and Jaxon were not only smoking hot on the combustible scale but they both tugged at my heartstrings. I was so invested in their storyline that I would make tasks last longer so I could keep on listening to the audiobook. I am so glad that I am finally getting to this series because it was well worth the wait!

Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Justine Eyre / Length: 10 hrs and 35 mins

Justine does a fantastic job with the narration on this series. For this one, she nailed Mishka and Jaxon. Her voices for both were pretty spot on!

Loved Mishka!

Mishka is hardcore but also vulnerable, which made me like her.

I didn't know a lot about Jaxon before so I didn't really notice that he was polite but I like him better with a sarcastic attitude.

I'm not really liking Mia anymore. She's just too macho and stubborn. There was a scene where she almost ruined the mission because of her not listening and stubbornness. Dallas is on my list of people I no longer like too but not as much as Mia.

It's been so long since I've read a Gena Showalter book, that I totally forgot how amazing her world building is. I mean, I'm totally in awe of this Sci-fi world that she created. Did I expect a tad bit more of our the infamous L'ace's books? Yes. But as a whole the story is strong and sets up an even more broad story arc that I have no doubt will hold up until the end of the series!

Not my favorite in this series but much better then the first book in the series. I had a hard time liking these characters and an even harder time believing in why the fell in love. So far book #2 Eden Black's story is the best.

This was my first read in the Alien Huntress series, even though it was book #3. It was very enjoyable, and it made me want to get the back story on the other characters. The book had an excellent dilemma about taking your own life to prevent the bloodshed or suffering of others. Is there ever a mercy kill? The connection between the two main characters was a bit too quick for me. I'm not sure that trust and love can be established so hastily, but it was sweet and steamy and entertaining to read. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series!
