Well-written and funny. Due to some big-kid themes and language, I’ll wait until my kids hit 6th grade until I offer this book to them to read.

I enjoyed the pranks and the way the characters interact.

I was looking forward to this book, but in the end it was only a so-so book. This mostly was the fault of the characters. I didn't particularly like them, especially Niles was just an annoying creepy kid.

The story was interesting, but it was so easy to see who the prankster was in that school. I won't spoil anything of course, but let's just say that it was super easy and I was disappointed that it was that obvious to the readers, but apparently not obvious to Miles, who was quite shocked to see that person standing there.

Miles was a nice character, but I think he went a bit too far with his jokes, and I also didn't like his cocky personality. Bragging about stuff, acting like he is so awesome. I don't like that character trait/personality in my characters.

Niles was just a creepy kid, and I didn't like him from the first time we saw him. Too creepy, too slick, too much bleh.

The principal and his son. Dear Lord, some people shouldn't be principals. Immediately seeing Miles as a threat, even threatening him quite a few times, not believing him. It was just horrendous.

I expected more from the whole Prank War and afterwards them combining their strengths. I had expected something epic, but then we got that? Seriously, that? It was kind of funny, sure, but nothing special.

All the cow facts also got annoying.

The illustrations were fun, and that is also what saves this book from a 2 star rating.

Would I recommend this book? Not really.

My son really enjoyed this book about a boy, Miles who moves to a new town and school. He was famous for his pranks at his old school and plans to pull lots of pranks at his new school. That is until he arrives at school on the first day and the principal's car is parked on the steps in front of the school entrance. The school already has a prankster!

This book was humorous and we recommend it to fans of Captain Underpants and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

Miles moves to a new town - Yawnee Valley. He is unimpressed with the new town that is known for their cows. Miles plans to be known as the prankster at his new school, Yawnee Valley Science and Letters Academy, as he begins his school day. Unfortunately, he is greeted by one of the greatest pranks he's ever seen - the principal's car blocking the front door to school! Before he knows it, Principal Barkin is accusing Miles of this prank and Miles is introduced to Niles, the school helper.

Authors Mac Barnett and Jory John have created a fun new book for older elementary and middle school students. It's been said that there will be more books to follow, but The Terrible Two is a great standalone book. It's a great book of humor and friendship. The characters can be extreme, like Principal Barkin being upset and red-faced most of the book, but it works! I can see readers loving this story.

The book is illustrated by Kevin Cornell, but when you listen to the audiobook the only illustrations are in your imagination. I did not feel cheated by not seeing the illustrations.

Adam Verner narrated The Terrible Two. This is the first audiobook I've heard him read. It was well done. The characters were different and I think they're personalities showed through the voices he created. One character in particular got under my skin - Stuart. He liked to shout about the happenings in the story, so his voice needed to be "shouty." Stuart was definitely shouty ... and annoying. Currently, Stuart is a minor character, so I could live with his maddening voice. If the series continues, I hope Mr. Verner returns to narrate the rest of the Terrible Two saga.

I started out reading this with my son but he wanted to finish it on his own - so I had to read the rest of it to find out what happened. It's really cute and funny, well-written with great appeal to kids and adults. Miles is the new kid in town and he wants to establish himself as his new school's top prankster, but little does he know that there is already an excellent and very STEALTHY prankster in residence. (On the first day of school the Principal's car is somehow sitting on the top step, blocking the entrance into the building - genius!) I think I'll have to read the next one in the series (after my son gets finished with it that is.)

Excellent for fans of Diary of a Wimpy kid! I loved the pranks but one star got taken off as the last BIG prank didn't seem as original as the others. My husband did something similar once only with sheep! But I'm biased in that and I think any 10 year old boy will think it is hilarious!

This book raised the bar of comedy-contemporary-illustrated-ya books so high up for me
