This was such a fun, campy, mystery-filled ride! Scooby-Doo meets Lovecraft, with REAL monsters. They have different names and personalities, but give nods to the characters we love from the cartoons. My favorite character was definitely Tim the Weimaraner! This was written partially like a normal novel and partially like a screenplay, complete with stage directions and asides, which could be distracting but honestly was entertaining as well. Lots of twists and turns, and an ending that I absolutely did not see coming! I enjoyed this book quite a bit.

I am about one third through this novel and I just have to stop. It is supposed to be a horror comedy but I haven't laughed once, and the horror aspect hasn't come into play yet. My patience has run out.

This is the first book by Edgar Cantero that I read and wow what a talent. His talent and skill with words outshines most English writing authors and then it’s eclipse when you realize that’s his second language. The book is heavily inspired by Scooby-doo and it’s even better than meant reimagining of the original inspiration. The book is definitely aimed at a late GenX/Millennial crowd with its references to pop culture, video game slang, and punchy witty Buffy-esque dialogue. Even if you aren’t particularly fond of Scooby-doing and its formula I still would highly recommend it.
