On our recent visit to Amsterdam, my wife and I visited the Anne Frank Huis. It's a frozen moment in time, but nonetheless is more museum than tragic historical site. With the crowds, and the necessary preservation, it is almost a temple. It's certainly a moving, saddening experience. Passing through it, the effect is powerful, immense. So much so that it was not until, near tears and passing into the shop could I decompress. And in so doing I saw this book, the cover of which made me realise, I had just learned the story, but had no idea of the people.
This little book did just that. It taught me who the people were, and gave the whole story a more optimistic view of what human nature can be.
An extra note; this book's design alone would make it worth owning.
