A mix of You’ve Got Mail and The Hating Game set in a bookshop at Christmas time. Light, fluffy, cheesy and predictable but a fun time.

this was short and sweet i loved it. i love the representation and how both their love was believable even in less than 200 pages. no unnecessary conflict. i just didn’t understand how he was a hockey player and had a full time job at the bookstore. other than that great!

This was like everything I could wish for troupe wise. There's nothing like a holiday romance to start off the holiday break. However, while I did get a lot of enjoyment out of this book while I was reading, I kinda thought it was mid in the end. The way Gabriella villainized Jonathan the entire book was so unnecessary, he never did anything to deserve the way she treated him. There were so many cute scenes between them that I loved (the car scene ahhhh) but then Gabby does a 180 and it’s back to square one with “Mr. Grinch” that is Jonathan Frost trying to steal my job.

And funny enough, as much as I love love love spice where i can get it. The spice in this book just threw me off, I don't know if it just didn’t fit in right to me for some reason that I can’t really pinpoint. I also wish we got more of the ice hockey aspect that was slid in for like 3 pages, being that Jonathan is a hockey player and Gabby’s dad is a famous hockey player, I was really hoping for something like a cute ice skating scene or something that elaborated on that. Otherwise I was happy to see representation for neurodivergence and diabetes.

P.S. “Mr.Reddit” was so cringe why why why

Gabriella or Gabby was cute at the beginning, she was like a ball of sunshine and a huge lover of the holidays and romance novels (same girlie same). But like i said above she loved to villainize jonathan, that was not cute whatsoever. Also she was so torn between liking Jonathan and some guy on reddit she has never met like a girl choosing the one that’s right in front of you not the one behind the screen please but luckily for her they're the same person I guess. Otherwise, her little quirks were a pleasure and I could see bits of myself in her so that was nice.
Jonathan was so attractive omg. He was so sweet from the get go as much as Gabby wanted him to be the bad guy, he simply was not. He protected her from her ex, noticed all her habits, remembered her favorite drink and bought it for her, and gave up his position at the end for her. He may be allegedly aloof at times and more calculated, he’s nothing but good. I love the duality of this man.

Looking for a quick holiday romance to shut your brain off to? This is the one for you.
