Rick Rubin has a soothing voice. So the audiobook is pleasant. However,  while there were some nuggets of wisdom in it that were reframed in a way so it felt new, the great majority of the book felt like recycled wisdom. There is nothing new under the sun one may say, but this book didn’t feel like it was contemplating the world’s wisdom is intriguing or inventive ways. To me, at least.

It's not a How-to book like most people thought it would be since it was written by Rick Rubin. This book  is exactly how the author explained it from the very beginning of the page. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to explore creativity. What 8t keants to be an artist and to creste art. Glad I got a hard copy book I will keep re-reading this.

I can’t remember a goddamn thing from this book, lol.

It was a collection of short meditation-like essays on thinking and the creative process.

On a positive note, it left me with a desire to create something, which I haven’t felt in awhile. I’ve also started to consider the smallest acts as creative acts- experimenting with an ingredient, creating a flyer for work, or thinking through a problem, etc. So something must have resonated.

One of my favorite books on creativity and living as a creative person…even if you don’t consider yourself an “artist” of any kind (visual, musical, performance, written, etc.)

If you create things (for profit or pure pleasure), I highly recommend this book.
