A charming little story. A lovely accompaniment to the other Little Endless Storybook. What makes it is Jill Thompson's art, of course. She's a magician with a brush. Wonderful.

Just a wonderful little story. I picked up both of these books for my little girls to read since I was such a fan of the regular series and I feel like this was one of the best self-contained stories every put out within the mythos. Beautifully illustrated and adorable while having a really interesting set of prose, especially within the gifts from the rest of the Endless.

Great stuff.

Oh, how cute! A storybook for older folks with all your favorite Sandman characters. Delirium realizes she's never seen her sister, Despair, smile and sets out to throw a surprise party for her. I've never seen the Endless look so...adorable. And I always love revisiting my favorite comic series.

A cute short issue that focuses on the story of Delirium throwing Despair a party to see her smile. It's more in the style of a children's story, both in what concerns the art and the plot (which is pretty light and simple), however I think it's still mostly directed at the existing grown-up fans of the Sandman series. I enjoyed it fine for the story it was. The art was simply adorable though!

I enjoyed Jill Thompson's first book about the Little Endless, but it was perplexing. It seemed more geared towards children than the grown-ups who have probably read "Sandman."

"Delirium's Party: A Little Endless Storybook" isn't like that at all. It's still meant for kids, but the Endless are here for more than cameos, and it does have a real story based on Delirium's.... um, delirious thoughts. It's simply a charming little story about the Endless, festooned with charming illustrations set in Delirium's sparkly sprinkly realm.

Delirium lives a carefree, blissfully psychedelic existence in her own little realm -- playing with her dog, calling her siblings, and having random things spray out of her multicolored head. But while she's sleeping one night, she wakes up. "I have never seen my sister Despair smile! NEVER NO EVER!" She immediately makes it her mission to make Despair smile.

And after she's "thinked, thunked and thoughteded," she works out a solution: have a Party! She decorates her home, makes a vast and terrifying "surprise" cake, and invites every one of the other Endless (with gifts!). But nothing she does seems to make Despair smile!

"Delirium's Party" is just a really charming, colorful little picture book, all about a charming little girl who seems to be perpetually on acid -- her hat is made of flames, bubbles and pipe organs; she has donut cushions; her hair can turn into a rainbow, seaweed or a bunch of party balloons; and she wears banana peels for slippers. It's the kind of hallucinatory weirdness that only children usually can dream up.

And yes, all of the Little Endless appear here, and they're pretty recognizable -- Death and Dream are especially noteworthy. Jill Thompson manages to capture the essence of their duties (in a G-rated way, when it comes to Desire) as they cluster around the gloomy grey blob of Despair, and try their hardest to make her happier.

"Delirium's Party" is just a really charming little story, with deliciously oddball illustrations and appearances by all of the Little Endless.

In this second Endless Storybook, Delirium realizes something important:

And so, she and her faithful canine Barnabas set out to have the perfect party for Delirium, including stunning gifts from the other Endless! But will this work? Will Delirium smile?

Interestingly, the story here was a bit more deep than in the 1st volume. It's about the nature of each Endless after all.
Nevertheless, here too, it's mostly about the adorably cute art and making the reader chuckle.

Still, I had a very good time, following the disaster duo (as I've dubbed them) as they rope the other siblings into their scheme and then ... well, see for yourself how it goes and how it all ends. ;)
