It was a good book. Just not for me. This is well written with lots of political intrigue and action. That being said, I just could not get into it. I took a long time to get it finished as I was just not enjoying it as much as I hoped I would. I did not get invested into any of the characters or the outcome.
I can see why so many folks love this book. I do recommend you give it a go. Just not my cup of tea.

A very well done mafia political thriller mixed with martial arts fantasy and messy family drama. I can’t wait to start the next book.

It wasn't poorly written.  I am just not one for mafia family type books

Loved Hilo from the beginning. Kind of thought someone of import was going to die. It happened to be Lan. This kid Bero is getting on my nerves. I’m worried for Anden, but hopeful for Hilo and Shae’s relationship.

I’ve never read anything like this and I feel like I just binged a Netflix series. One turn after another I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. My rating says something because I’m really a Jane Austen fan so this genre is new to me. I’m so impressed.

I seriously love a couple of the characters and am enjoying the direction of the plot! Looking forward to the next couple. :)
