A new year at camp Half-Blood and yet another prophecy that sends Percy into danger.

I really liked this one. Daedalus the inventor played a big role in this one and the Labyrinth made things ten times harder for Percy to succeed. Calypso made an appearance in this one too! Her story is sad and her punishment for being Atlas' daughter made me feel bad for her.

Nico di Angelo is fastly becoming one of my favorite side characters. The son of Hades is a loner and an outcast and there's something about him that is just really relatable.

The Rick did a great job of keeping a complicated plot simple enough for young readers to understand. There were a lot of nuances in this book, a lot of complicated imagery and scenery, as well as complicated character dynamics to be addressed as well as diving in to smaller characters and introducing newer characters. Although I did not think this book did as good of a job as The titans curse in terms of introducing new characters it’s still did it good enough job. One critique I have is the amount of new characters and mythical creatures introduced in this book, at times it was really hard to remember who knew certain new characters were and why certain mythical beings looked like. I really enjoyed Annabeth and Percy‘s relationship development as well as Grovers quest to find pan. I think we learned the most about Grovers character in this book compared to the others. This book was incredibly complicated and although at times I was a little bit lost in terms of the amount of new information being presented, it was still very well done with great uses of imagery pacing and overall character development. I really enjoyed Nico‘s character arc and enjoyed that Roydon left Percy and Nico‘s relationship kind of on a cliffhanger. Like you don’t know if Nico at this point is trying to help or hurt Percy because I think Nico‘s character has been done really well with an over arching sense of ambivalence. I would like to see even more development of Percy‘s power and I wish there was more instances for him to explore that. The next book is the last book in the series and I’m excited to see how everything comes to a close. Overall 4.5 out of five stars, the book was good, the pacing was good, the imagery and character development was good, but the amount of new and whimsical information did feel overwhelming at times.

(4.25) This one is definitely my second fave in the original series. The girls are fighting, Nico crumbs, the looming inevitability of an eldritch god popping out of the ground to raze the entire country to the ground!! I forgot how sick Typhon is. And just how much I love Nico.
