This book is so complicated… yet so simple at the same time. Awesome representation of three-dimensional queer characters of all kinds. Really loved the exploitation of nuance and discourse and community, etc

Every time I think I finally found a book that has truly captured what I never could put to words about how I came to discover myself, another one enters the group chat. Imposter syndrome in relation to LGBTQIA+ identity can hit at full force- “wouldn’t I have known sooner?”, “Do I just want to fit in?” , “how did I miss these signs?”, “why am I obsessed with this?”, etc and that is a central theme of this novel.  Whenever “people pleasing” was called out, I felt personally attacked but in a validating way! I also got excited that it took place in Upstate, NY- a very rural area- as there are not many upbeat LGBTQIA+ stories taking place in rural, conservative areas. I also loved Caitlin Kinnunen narrating the audiobook- I loved her in The Prom! I really hope there is a sequel because I absolutely loved many of the characters and want to see what comes next for them.
