Not as good as the Lost Apothecary, but still a great novel. I found the build-up to the romance jerky, prolonged, and the time when they had the most intimate contact at a very, VERY inopportune and non-sexy time, which brought me out of the story for the moment. However, all in all, I enjoyed this book a lot, and I'd love to read more by this author. I think she needs to work on the romance and intimate contact writing though.

About 15% I realized I was annoyed by almost everything in this book but I wanted to know who did it so I kept reading... Unfortunately after finishing I feel just about the same way: irritated and grouchy.

I loved The Lost Apothecary but this book did not work for me at all.

Was really disappointed in this one after loving The Lost Apothecary. The idea was ok, solving a couple murders with seances but there was a pretty big lack of seances and paranormal for a book called “seance society.” The weird romance and sex scenes were so out of place and unnecessary. You learn some bombshell about a murder but we’re apparently focusing on kissing someone else instead. It was just shoe-horned into weird places in the story and felt like pandering to be included.
