A fictionalised but based on actual historical figures story about the first clergyman from the first fleet as told through the eyes of 10 y.o. Barney Bean.
A great read. Weaving history into a terrific story. Classic French.

Having previously read book four not knowing it was a series (Publishers!!) I am reading book one and this is again a nice story based in history from French.
I wouldn't say it was the best ever, but it is still solid story telling.

LOVING reading this series again... this time with Jeremy.
I read it myself first, then aloud to James, now aloud to Jeremy (and James is listening again) and I am still picking up the little treasures Jackie French hides in her beautiful stories!
