"Avec des si on mettrait Lutèce en amphore"

Bien que toujours une bonne lecture, cet épisode pâlit un peu par rapport à ses prédecesseurs. L'histoire engage moins par rapport aux autres, et vu que nos compères changent sans cesse de ville l'histoire prend aussi un peu le pas sur les gags parfois. Content de l'avoir lu mais pas mon Astérix préféré.

One of my top Asterix adventures!

I really enjoy this voyage through Gaul and seeing the many different regions as our duo escapes roman legionnaires again and again!

This is also the story that introduces the cute little dog Dogmatix (Idéfix in French)!

This is a wonderful tour of the regions of France which showcases the individuality of each region be it the people, the cuisine or the architecture. More importantly, this book introduces the series' most endearing character: Dogmatix.
Annoyingly, my copy is missing the middle two sheets (the bit with the postal service).

These books are full of bright, fun and delightful characters who go on various adventures and get to beat up a bunch of Roman soldiers. Accompanying the story and the characters is a plethora of clever puns and word play that the translators should get a medal for. There are always a few gags or phrases in Latin that may mean nothing to the non-Latin speakers (such as myself) but Google can lend a helping hand there.
