I really enjoyed this book. I found it magical and the illustrations were beautiful. The bond between Madeline and her grandfather is priceless, I love that he is the one who gives her something that every child dreams of for her birthday. She gets to be big, small, invisible, and magical. It also gently deals with the reality of losing someone you care about.
I will definitely continue to read this book over and over to my boys.

This had a lot of color, love, cute magical moments, and potions for days. And, even when it got a bit more serious along the way, it gave us a nice happy ending. For a child though, I would say that it might be too much to take in. Little ones having to see the main character progress, while their grandfather ages, might sadden them way too much.

It did have it's really fun times though, all the amazing things that Madeline got to experience because of her grandfather. Then, when it seemed to go on a little too long, we reached the end and the reason why she couldn't drink the pink potion. Which, I have to admit, almost made me cry. Like I said, for a little one it might be too much too soon, but it didn't take away from the fact that it was still a cute and magical book.

Don't Drink the pink is a very cute easy read for you and your kids. The art is very beautiful and matches the fun writing of the book. It will also create an easy way for you to bring up to topic of death and that just because a person has passed it doesn't mean you need to forget and they are still there in your memories.

Illustrations: ★★★★★
Amazing! And I love the colors too!

Character Development: ★★★★★
The primary focus was of Grandpa Gilderberry and Madeline's realtionship. The love they showed for each other really showed within the artwork.

Flow of the Story:★★★★★
Great! A fun story that could be read to a class of imaginative kids.

Font: ★★★☆☆
I did not like the font chosen for this story book. I found that it didn't quite fit the style of the story book. This is just my opinion as an avid book reader and no one of great significance.

Overall: I really love this children's story book. So much that if I were to find it on sale at my hometown book store I would nab it. Great job Fegan and Wen! The ending almost brought me to happy tears.

A sweet story about a girl and her grandfather, who gives her a special potion each year allowing her to have some special experiences. As an adult, the book was a little predictable, but I did love the ending. Very heartwarming tale.

This book was adorable! The illustrations were vividly colored and allowed my eyes to feast without being overwhelmed. I liked how the story rhymed and had a catchy phrase that my kiddo could pick up a couple pages in and help me read along. We found the story both funny and heartwarming. A sweet book!

A beautifully illustrated magical story a little girl and her relationship with her grandfather. The story is written in verse, very catchy and well written, making it more entertaining and enjoyable to read and share. A wonderful story about family, growing up and I felt great for teaching about ageing and loss.

Don’t Drink the Pink by B.C.R. Fegan is a fantasy children’s book. The book follows a young girl from her first birthday until her fifteenth birthday and her enchanting relationship with her grandfather. As the story progresses, the little girl has many different adventures, and children learn along the way.

Fegan has done it yet again! I absolutely love this book. I am an adult, and it has viscerally hit me, making me long for my grandmother again as I also had a special relationship with her. In typical Fegan fashion, the book rhymes, uses amazing words to build the vocabulary of young people, and is relatable and can be enjoyed by many different ages. I think one of the more important points of the book could help children learn to deal with the loss of someone important in their life. It gradually shows that the grandfather is getting older and having a harder time getting around, and this can open up a great discussion with children. However, it does deal with it whimsically in the end, but I think it helps with processing and understanding. I highly recommend this book to everyone with children or who works with children.

Don’t Drink the Pink is a beautifully written and illustrated book about a young girl named Madeline and the wonderful relationship she has with her Grandfather Gilderberry. A magical man who each year for her birthday gives her a potion to drink, each potion a different color with a different magical outcome. Growing big, invisible, etc.

The cute rhymes made the story very enjoyable. We got to see Madeleine grow. By the third birthday I was preparing myself for the ending of the story, tissues and a chuckle got me through it!

A wonderful story to teach children about the magical relationships of family and how to deal with loss.
