Wow, this was nowhere near as good as the first one!
One thing I did like was the detail that went into explaining how Jack Reacher fires a rifle. How the wind, gravity, breathing etc determine how well he hit his target. Really awesome!
I'll keep going with the series because Jack Reacher, as a character is kick-ass. I just felt the situation and bad guys was long winded and fell a bit flat.
Hoping the next one is better!

It took me a looooong time to read this. I liked the first book better. This one had some unrealistic details. Nevertheless, I like Child's writing and I am going to continue reading these novels.

It’s been years since I read the first book, Killing Floor. I didn’t click with the first narrator and didn’t know back then that sometimes a series switches. After watching the new Reacher show last weekend - I wanted to dive back in.
I really enjoyed this one. Reacher getting kidnapped along with the intended target… all for being in the wrong place at the wrong time was a great way to start this. A way for Child to believably get the FBI, the military, and even the President involved. I loved the pacing as well as the mix of mystery and suspense. Never knowing who could be trusted.
I also love the way that Child uses simple everyday items to help visually describe even the most minute things. It helped me really step into this world he created. Reacher, is of course, Reacher. Detail oriented, planner, thinker, and skilled. However, Holly is no shrinking violet. She’s also intelligent, strong, and skilled. Together, and at times with a few others, they make a formidable team against their captors.
Truly an enjoyable thriller start to finish.

Johnathan McClain did a great job with this. Child gives him a huge cast of characters and personalities to work with, almost all men. They have unique voices, sounds, mannerisms - which really helped me keep everyone straight. It was a terrific listen and I’m happy he’s narrating the next few books.

I want to start off by saying that I didn't hate this book. But I didn't feel like I liked it as much as the first. I think this was partly my fault, I spent a long time taking breaks from this one so that I could read others. I got distracted from the SL a lot and when I went back to it I continued to wonder why they were still dragging on in the same settings. Jack is awesome as usual, also in the wrong place at the right time. Holly was irritating and flip floppy. The bad guys were interesting and very complex. I did enjoy this book and I will continue to read them, I just may take a break from the series for a while being that the other books in my queue are starting to accumulate more quickly.

Who doesn’t like a tough stoic practical ex-military cop who minds his own business but somehow gets embroiled in a national security issue just simply by being his gentlemanly self?
This went down easier than the first. I like Reacher’s principles. I like his thought processes. I don't doubt his skill or his reasoning. The only complaint I have is that this sometimes is too mired in the details, but that’s just small quibbles.
Again, manners and brains with the brawn matter a lot! There’s even a little romantic something something going on just like it did in the first book. I surely wouldn’t say no to Reacher or with moving forward with the next installment!
