I doubt I can do justice to the beauty and movement of Zeke Peña's illustrations. I am so impressed with his talent! The text and story are also wonderful as the reader joins Papi and his daughter on their motorcycle ride around Corona, California. I grew up in Arizona and have lived in a few California communities with similar histories and current cultures of a mezcla of both Spanish and English—the flavors, vocations, mercados are all well represented. I loved this tribute to this community and culture here in the US. This is a delightful book!

I tagged it as both a picture book and a graphic novel because the text layout and illustration style are more graphic novel, but the size, page length, content, and storytelling is that of a picture book. I think fans of either genre will be delighted with this book.

Warning: if you read this with children you may find they will want to ride a motorcycle! Maybe you will want to ride one, too...? You've been warned!

Loved the illustrations! Beautiful! Adorable story of a Hispanic little girl and her dad riding through their city on a motorcycle together. Tells of the hard work of immigrant families in an ever-changing world.

Beautiful. My library has both the Spanish and the English editions, so I read both.

A beautiful immigrant's story about change and culture. I really enjoyed the beautiful illustrations and the passion for Quintero's hometown.

Such a nice read! I wish there’d been more literature like this when I was a kid.

I read this with my 7 and 11 year old boys. I loved this book. The illustrations really uplifted the Mexican American culture of Southern California. The storyline was really quite sweet -- a father and his young daughter taking a ride through their hometown that they love. I love the inclusion of Spanish in the text, which is useful for my oldest who is learning Spanish.
