This collection contains Superman Rebirth #1 as well as Superman (Vol. 4) #1-6, plus a cover gallery at the end. The book tells the tale of Superman (Clark Kent), his wife, Lois Lane, and their eight year-old son, Jon. After almost a decade of hiding in the shadows, Superman was forced to come public when the New 52 Superman died. Additionally, Jon discovers he is developing super powers, and goes on a mission with his dad. As one can expect, the mission goes awry.

Superman Rebirth #1 was one of the best issues of the DC Universe one shots. The story that followed, Son of Superman, was a bit uneven, but it had some good moments involving Krypto and Lois both kicking some major butt. This book does NOT contain Superman #7, which is the epilogue to the Son of Superman arc and I think is the best part of the arc. That should be released with Volume 2 in a few months. If you like Superman or super heroes in general but haven't read comic books in years (or, if you got turned off from New 52), this is an excellent place to start. While Volume 1 is a little spotty, it still is a solid entry point. The next arc (again, should be released with Volume 2) became more consistent as Tomasi settled in to the book and now it's honestly one of my favorite titles of rebirth.

I really loved this book. Jon is great. His presence makes Superman’s more relatable and his own vulnerability and uncertainty make things interesting. And he’s just an incredibly likable kid. Lois is great. She takes a front seat in this book and works in sync with her family. The characterizations are great, the art is beautiful, the villains were interesting. There are some oddball things, but this is definitely one you have to read.

Okay so this is how you make Superman an interesting character again! Lois is more like the Lois from All-Star Superman than damsel in distress. Jon Kent is adorable and earnest. You can definitely tell he was raised by Lois and Clark. I haven't actually read much of the New 52 Superman books, but I don't think it really affected me too much. There is a bit of Death of Superman nostalgia, but it wasn't too overt.

I'm very interesting to see where this is going to go. They completely sold me in this vol. on Superman being a family man(I really love it, it fits his character so well), super boy is a pretty strong character, and Louis hijacks Batman's hell-bat bot suit of armor to fight a villian.
I'm hoping the next vol. will cover a bit more on superman teaching super boy things about his powers. I'm wondering since super boy is half what kinda powers he will even have. This issue hinted that his powers could be changing or maybe even unreliable?! The story is pretty good, I'm a little more interested on the dynamics of the family and even how the justice league will be in the future. The artwork was really great through out this whole book. ~Ashley

A quick and enjoyable read, so i just got done reading a teen titans volume that had a clone and Jon who was super evil, but I like this growing story better.
