Go into this one blind just pick it up and start reading and you won’t be disappointed. This is a great thriller that screams 80's/90's slasher movie. I loved it and couldn’t put it down regardless of how creeped out I got. Can’t recommend this book enough if this is a genre that you enjoy!

Slow start, wild all the way through from there. I couldn’t stop turning pages. I was eager to find out what happened next and who actually did what. Loved the way it unfolded.

My local librarian said this book was the scariest book she’s ever read, so I had high expectations (maybe a little too high)

It didn’t really scare me, but it is very engaging and well-written. The revelations are paced to give you time to think about them, mostly.

don’t know how I feel about this one. I was bored for a lot of it. I felt it was kinda predictable. The very end made me cringe too.

Well this was definitely not what I thought it’d be.
I have no idea who thought it was related to Gone Girl, like at all, but he was dead wrong.
No gone girl vibes only merciless creepiness which I’m obviously down for.
Did I knew at any point what was going on?
Fuck no.
Did I love it?
Fuck yes.
BUT the pace was all over the place and some decisions were more than stupid and uncalled for (at the moment at least).

What saved the whole thing from being a mediocre nothingness is the last third. It went out with a BANG. From 80% and onwards I was 101% engaged, trying very hard to understand but nothing made sense until it eventually did and I was speechless.

For those of you who predicted the ending I seriously have no idea how you did. I had no clue and I’d say I’ve read enough thrillers in my lifetime..

This was my first book I read by Riley Sager and I enjoyed it a lot! I didn't expect to give it this high of a rating, but it somehow felt right. I don't think there was a single thing I didn't enjoy about the book.

Thoughts:

- Overall, the story is pretty fast-paced. The writing is easy to read - though I mostly read this on audio, which I also have to say was very good.
- I personally liked the characters. Do they make dumb decisions sometimes? I guess. But who doesn't, right?
- I also enjoyed the small glimpses into the past to see what actually happened that night. It kept me interested in the story throughout the whole book.
- Sometimes I'm glad my brain is too dumb to piece a mystery together because at least I enjoyed the plot twist and reveal at the end. I had many theories; this was not one of them. Overall, the ending to me felt very satisfying.
- Loved the slasher movie vibes!

Honestly, there's not much to say without spoiling the book. I'm simply excited to read more by this author in the future. It was fun. So if you're looking for a quick read with slasher movie vibes, pick this up.
