I find Mishima fascinating, despite his politics, and so this was an especially enlightening read. The whole thing is a good appreciation and sketch of an overview of Mishima's work. A light touch, but illuminating. The last section, examining Mishima's politics, art, and the film Patriotism, in the context of his final day and ritual suicide is absolutely fascinating. An excellent companion piece to Schrader's excellent film Mishima: A Life in Four Acts (which also benefits, like this book, from having read a few Mishima novels first).
