I finished this book in two days, pulled along through the pages by a dash of humor and an interesting setting (a fictional national park… national parks seem to be my weakness!).
One of the strengths of the author is her zany, lovable side characters. Both in her previous book, Meet Me in the Margins, and this one, the supporting cast is just so enthusiastic and also bonkers that I really warm to them.
It’s true that the previous book resonated more with me, with its bookish setting and strong “You’ve Got Mail” vibes, whereas this one is about a wildly famous social media influencer whose star seems to have set. Maybe not quite my scene… but I do think this story would make a lovable romcom movie. A lot of the moments played out in my head as if they were on a screen.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the digital review copy.

When I first saw the cover of this book I loved it. Automatically thought some type of wilderness romance story. Unfortunately, there was quite a lot less romance in this book than I was expecting. I would have filed this more as a women’s fiction than a straight romance.

I still enjoyed the story of self discovery and learning to back away from all things technology and social media. How easily it can grab a hold on your every day life and seemingly ability to function. There were some great take away messages in this book.

For someone who’s life was all social media, all the time - I was quite impressed how easily Cat embrasses the wilderness; snow hikes, getting into the cold streams (even if there was a photo trying to happen here) and even bunking with a younger, very enthusiast junior park ranger in a poorly heated cabin.

Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for an ARC copy of this audiobook!

If you’re looking for a Hallmark movie in a book, this is one of the very few I have found. Full of wholesome moments and relevant discussions about social media with no smut in sight.

I agree that the cover does not match the setting of the book. Definitely a winter read!!
