This was a really interesting look at the legacy of empire in the UK. Sanghera tackles a heavy subject with humour and his writing style and tone really worked for me. There's a lot of information here but it was easy to read. It's amazing that I learnt none of this at school and I'm interested in reading his follow up Empireworld as well.

Amazing book. Well written. Well researched. Absolutely astonished that I didn't know even HALF of the stuff in this book. Very important for anyone in Britain, especially if your heritage is tied to the empire.

I've always been glass half empty kind of person, but this read has unlocked a new level of nihilism for me. It had me shaking my head in anger and disappointment, which in turn disturbed fellow passengers on my morning commute. Very depressing but much needed eye-opener.
