I've always been glass half empty kind of person, but this read has unlocked a new level of nihilism for me. It had me shaking my head in anger and disappointment, which in turn disturbed fellow passengers on my morning commute. Very depressing but much needed eye-opener.

An excellent book on the British Empire that should be read by every school child in the U.K. and most adults too. Sanghera explores Britain’s relationship to its former empire in a way that is absolutely engaging, and firmly rooted in the modern day. Hopefully it will be one of many books that begins to fill the pitiful dearth of accessible books on this shamefully simplified area of our history.
