It was really slow to start, but I was very invested by the end. Overall, I might read another by this author, but I won't probably be looking for one.

well done Ms.Kim. an interesting book on how actions, taken singly and without knowledge of other contributing actions, will tell a single story. Then when all of the seemingly unrelated actions are brought together, an entirely different story will/can appear. The human reaction of determining meaning or conclusion from incomplete information or on how it affects the self only can be and often is a negative endeavor. Will we ever be able to talk to each other with complete vulnerability and understanding?

I had this on my TBR for quite some time and one of book club gals had it to pass on so it finally got a “go-to-the-head-of-the-line” pass. I really enjoyed getting to know so many characters and see their perspectives on the event. It is a pretty sad book overall. I think the twist is pretty easy to see coming but that doesn’t distract from the overall enjoyment of story. I do feel that being a parent would really deepen your appreciation of the book.

A perfect illustration of realistic and relatable characters, all with flaws and good intentions, woven through a compelling story of mystery and courtroom drama. I found Kim’s storytelling, similes, and pace to be compelling and spot on.
