Beautifully written but it was hard for me to get through. I think it is important that you are present when reading this, i wasn't really and therefore was confused throughout the whole book.

This book fucks extraordinarily hard. I loved the Night Circus because the vibes were immaculate even though I found the characters a bit flat and some of the most intriguing parts of the story, to me, felt unexplored. Not this book. Everything about this book, from the weird symbols repeating everywhere, to the use of interspersed story, to the fucking weather makes this book feel magical. And!!! The characters rock. When they feel a little hard to grasp it’s because they’re the manifestation of fate and time, so being hard to grasp is kind of essential to their whole deal you keep learning about characters motivations after they die, the whole thing is juicy and excellent. Truly such a pleasure to read. Also contains one of the softest and loveliest moments of parental acceptance of a queer child I’ve ever encountered. Extremely mild spoilers ahead but when Zs mother is talking about why she thinks her son is still alive she says “I was given a reading by a fortune teller and everything in that reading has come true except for one thing. I have no reason to think that she would get all that right and this one thing wrong, so I think it is still to come. The tarot reader said I’d have two sons. For a long time I thought that meant I’d give Z a sibling. It took a long time for me to figure it out, probably too long. But now I know Z is coming back because he has to introduce me to my son in law” so understated and tender just obsessed.

Marvelous, magical story once again (also a big fan of The Night Circus). This is a book filled with many characters and stories and I can see how you could loose track if it was a casual read by your bedside. Yet, if you love bees, swords and keys and have a vacation or a weekend to deep dive into a fantastic fantasy. Fate and Time make great lovers in this story.

Savoured this one big time. Have zero idea of what the plot was or what happened, but thoroughly enjoyed the rich detail and landscapes.
