“Michael tried to scream, but his tongue and vocal cords were gone. He tried to wish them back, but part of his brain vanished, taking away his ability to think.
Other parts of Michael lasted a bit longer, but the League was large and had many needs. Soon, there was nothing left of Michael. Not even a wish.”

Overall, I really enjoyed this collection of shorts. I read it at least a decade ago, and I forgot most of these. I reviewed each one with just a sentence summary, but the ones that I really enjoyed got longer reviews.
All The Rage - Don’t be an asshole, especially on purpose, to people.
Frankendance - This has a really gory scene, to a point that my jaw dropped.
The Ratty Old Bumbershoot - Fun, karma, and a shocking ending.
Dear Author - Easily forgettable, nothing happens.
The Wizard’s Mandolin - Gory again, not the most memorable but fun.
Into The Wild Blue Yonder - In 3...2...1... Let’s Sausage!
Yackity-Yak - Kids, don’t do drugs, or listen to strangers at a bus stop.
Wish Away - The Fairly OddParents gets real dark real quick.
The Department Store - Heavy Condemned: Criminal Origins vibes (you know the level). Amazing atmosphere that genuinely creeped me out.
The Battle of the Red Hot Pepper Weenies - It was okay. Fun rivalry over peppers but nothing unforgettable.
Just Like Me - Depressing and humanly dark that seemed all too real.
What’s Eating the Vegans? - Amusing. Not great.
Let’s Have A Big Hand for Gerald - Just frustrating more than anything.
Bird Shot - Don’t mess with nature, fun read with a satisfying ending.
The Princess and the Pea Brain - Really fun twist on a classic fairytale. One that I remembered reading when I was a kid.
Petro-Fied - Topical and hauntingly beautiful in the description of the ending.
Time Out - Fun, short, and freaky. Imaginative and descriptive, good.
Galactic Zap - Damn, really fun and incredibly descriptive. Creepy ending with heavy Star Trek vibes.
The Taste of Terror - Dark, badass, a blast to read, great characters and a fantastic villain.
The Cat Almost Gets a Bath - Cute little story. Shows a gentler and more realistic story that could happen anywhere at anytime.
Yesterday Tomorrow - A dark twist on a simple enough concept that left me sad more than anything else.
Take a Whack at This - So good. Great use of irony, hilariously executed, and so cheesy.
King of the Hill - Meh. Karma is real, but forgettable and nothing amazing.
Book Banning - Eh. Another one where a kid does something wrong to an inanimate object and it attacks, but it didn’t feel fully realized or finished with this one.
Braces - Good, not great. Creepy, good atmosphere, well written characters, and an unsettling ending. I vaguely remember this one from when I was a kid.
Turkey Calls - Cute. Not amazing, but another realistic story that had a lot of potential, but was more humorous than unsettling or downright terrifying.
Reel - Fucking awesome. Great idea, even better execution, great ending, all around just great. One that I remember from when I was a kid.
Bad Luck - Very fun story that reminded me of Big Mouth in the way the kids see certain mental illnesses.
Rattled Nerves - “No, it was the woods themselves! They're alive, Ashley! The trees, they're alive!” One that I remember from when I was a kid.
Smart Little Suckers - Heavy Murder of the Universe vibes from this one. Fascinating concept that’s well executed.
Overdue onto Others - Depressing and fun in concept, not great but memorable.
Put on Your Happy Face - Goddamn that was depressingly dark. A Joker origin story for sure.
Moods - Jesus Christ, this one was genuinely sad and humanly dark on a deeply personal level.
Keep Your Spirits Up - Fun story about being a ghost. Sad at parts, an okay story that had potential.
Sting, Where Is Thy Death? - Damn good. Very fun, great ending. Love the insight we get to see of Billy.

35 creepy short tales. Some are more humorous, others are kinda dark. Very quick read, will probably appeal to boys.

The library website I was using to read it didn't have a copy of it anymore, plus I was just re-reading it for fun so I didn't feel the need to go out of my way and finish it lmao

I remember that I used to love these short stories as a kid. They are the perfect amount of creepy without being too scary for a younger child (well a younger child that likes scary things). These short stories, now as an adult, don't have quite the creepiness factor as they did for me when I was young, but the critiques of society, hidden to my child-eyes, still stands strong. This book is basically the "Black Mirror" of the early 2000's kids.
